The Esk Invader from Crewe - Whitby with 40145 throughout, apart from half the journey where 37229 worked at the other end.It was pretty good although it wasn't the 40 we paid for which we never heard as it was at the other end.

Also the Trans Pennine something or other which marked 55022's return, although it wasn't ready unfortunately, so 40145 was substituted instead, but Pathfinder didn't fancy that so they advertised it as the Transpennine Syphonic with a rateable pair of DRS, until they realised thay could have a pair of EWS Knackers for next to nowt and still charge us for a heritage diesel!

So off it was with 37406 and 417, and typically the crap one, 406, did all the work with the better one, 417, swinging/banking on the rear, or the second one in the pair.

A reasonable day out, if not a tad expensive for what it was (Standard).

Much better value was Kingfishers trip from Bristol to Eastbourne for the Airshow on 17th August. Didn't see much of the aircraft unless they could be seen from the pub, but did catch the Fouga Magister though.

We felt we were robbed on the Ealing Paddington - Penzance tour on August Bank Holiday Monday, but it was a fine day out.

Martin Walker's shiny Deltic made a huge return to mainline passenger servive on the excellent Moray Mint tour on the 23rd September.

The Son of Christmas Cracker ran in appalling weather conditions, but despite a last minute diversion via Reading West, wasn't too late.

40145 and 33029 were substitutes for RSG on the Link Indo, a Linlithgow - Lincoln excursion for the Christmas market, although this train didn't provide much in the way of photo opportunities.
